    Week one case study

WEEK ONE Automation offers savings of $2,530,000

A structured proof point showing what automation can do at estate scale when manual remediation is no longer realistic.

    Penn State University
    Accessibility Ventures

Achieving compliance today is not a realistic if you adopt today's manual approach and limitations; it could take c39 years.

aicm makes this a reality, dealing with it in 4 days.

Being able to deal with changes quickly is also key. Every day new and revised documents are published - without automation it is impossible to attempt to remove discrimination today.

Excluding the human limitation (if you could bring together sufficient people and manage) - automation delivers savings of $2,530,000

Across Higher Ed., corporations and Gov. websites, the widespread use of PDF's, video and others assets is commonplace - files that can be sprinkled (sometimes very liberally, far and wide); understanding and managing these assets presents many challenges:

    • /How do you create an inventory across a website estate of many sites (what is actually out there) in a timely, and accurate manner?
    • /Once you have an accurate asset inventory, how do you understand to what degree compliance levels are being met and maintained across what can be hundreds, or hundreds of thousands of assets?
    • /Once compliance has been ascertained (bar using the typical XLS management system), how do you prioritize and manage the remediation process?

We take away this problem by creating the inventory, managing the compliance auditing and then via partners, or your chosen remediation partner, manage the work of sending files, managing the prioritization of corrections and ensuring prompt redelivery of compliant assets.

    Pre-delivery test results

In pre-delivery tests, across a Higher Ed., landscape of 2,340 websites (1,893,400 web pages) we were able to catalogue and index over 311,000 assets (PDF, office, video and audio files) in under 48 hours. PDF and Office first compliance checks were completed within 4 days.

To complete this process manually could take around 13 years - vs automation (which also included correction prioritization) less than a week. In terms of remediation management, what was probably an impossibility to contemplate (estimated 39 person years of work) has now been automated, with a full audit trail.

    A risk managed approach

Looking at this from a risk managed approach, there is now an efficient and effective way to remove the present litigation exposure and automate the management of remediation (correction, removal or archiving of assets)
